When I first heard this band, the whiney, crybaby voice of singer Jordan Dreyer incensed me so much that I wished I could reach into my speakers and slap some sense into him. Yet strangely the more I listened, the more it grew on me. La Dispute kind of remind me of when I first heard Thursday's "Full Collapse", the music has that rise and fall, well thought out tempo to it and the off timing vocals work really well with it. This 14 song release is a concept album presented as a collection of unpublished “short stories” from a hypothetical author. The stories are told in parallel to the author's own ambiguous loss and struggle. I may have lazily copied and pasted those last two sentences, but this album is really, really good, you've just got to give it a chance, like peace.
