Melbourne favourites The Smith Street Band have been busy; they really don’t know how to be anything else. As well as working on a batch of new tunes, they've put together an Australian tour, enlisting Poison City Weekender pals Joyce Manor (USA) and Cheap Girls (USA), who will both be making their first trip to Oz.
Melbourne is not known for producing weak-willed hardcore bands and Outsider's Code is no exception. They will be launching their debut LP "Exiled From Birth" next month with some of their favorite Melbourne bands, as well as Legions making the trek down from Sydney.
Apart From This' debut album 'In Gloom' is a huge leap forward in song writing and production for this young Melbourne four piece. The band will be playing "In Gloom" in its entireity at their launch show on Friday May 24th at The Gasometer Hotel.
Los Angeles' Alpha & Omega are excited to announce a July 23rd release date for their upcoming Bridge Nine debut, No Rest, No Peace. Their second full-length release, No Rest, No Peace is a juggernaut of an album, drawing from influences of hardcore mainstays such as Cro Mags and Integrity as well as crossover and metal like Crowbar and Metallica.
A band known for their captivating and comprehensive storytelling just as much as their elaborate and complex music, Massachusetts' Defeater recently wrapped recording their third full-length album, Letters Home. These ten new tracks are heavy and haunting, continuing the story of a working class family living in post-WWII America.
Matt Weston's (The Nation Blue) latest project, "Blokes You Can Trust" a documentary on legendary Melbourne band the COSMIC PSYCHOS, premiered on the weekend with a private screening and performance by the band on the farm of bassplayer Ross Knight. Umbrella Entertainment will be screening the documentary in selected theatres for a run of dates.
In 1979, Black Flag played their first show at Moose Lodge 1873 in Redondo Beach, California. More than 34 years later, Flag played the same venue to an invite-only crowd of less than 200 people. Now a professionally edited clip of all the different camera angles with audio from the desk has been put together.
The guys in Nervous Impulse have all spent their share of time in the DC-area hardcore/punk scene, from the late 80’s forward, playing in bands such as The Goons, Striking Distance, VPR, Set to Explode ,The Reticents, HR Band, and others. Bridge Nine Records will release eight songs as a self-titled Nervous Impulse album on May 28th, 2013.
Parkway Drive have released a brand new video for their track, "Wild Eyes" from their chart topping album, Atlas. A follow up to their wildly successful video "Dark Days" which has over 3.6 million views and precludes the new video, "Wild Eyes" depicts the dismal future of the world in a post-apocalyptic live show setting.
Mindsnare will be celebrating their 20th year anniversary as a band this year, having first formed way back in 1993. To celebrate and commerate the occasion they will be playing a string of shows in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne and Perth.
