Adelaide’s Weightless offer up their debut release; eight songs of very mellow music, ala Mineral, American Football or the softer moments of Sunny Day Real Estate. This is the kind of soothing pleasant music that accompanies a hangover pefectly. Plenty of guitar noodling and well thought out song structure on offer here, that will have you constantly expecting a song to explode into a climax that never really eventuates. The track “Life Abroad” highlights a shift to an acoustic approach as things get toned down a touch before returning to the noodling again. In all, a highly listenable debut that will please fans of 90s emo, before the term became a dirty word.
