Relatively new Sydney band, LO! instigated by former Omerata guitarist Carl Whitbread, have gained an international following overnight with this release being picked up Robin Staps from The Ocean for his label, Pelagic Records. While I'm no expert on doomy, sludgy, noisy, off time hardcore, I have listened to a lot of Breach in my days and LO! really remind me of them. Influences being thrown around include the likes of Old Man Gloom, Mastadon, Baroness and Converge, so if that spikes your interest, this should definietly appeal to you as it really is some top notch and well written music. Vocally I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this record. Love the screaming, it works well, but the occasional cookie monster vocal, not so much.
