Arturo Gatti. http://toetotoeshc.bandcamp.com/

Appearances at Hardcore:

Second from memory.

What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2013?
Playing, hanging out, catching up, paying your mates out, getting paid out, watching new bands, Sydney hangs, family, SHC, real hardcore, band shirts, talking shit.

Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to watching?
Boneless and I’ve heard heaps about this new band called Trentless and keen to check out Outsiders Code

What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
Big Sexy has a new band called Spook Town Crackers they aren’t playing but we are going to hang

Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
Stay positive and don’t peak too early with the energy drinks

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth of Today song do you put your hand up for?
Yeah that’s a hard one cause I plan on blowing my voice out with the Toe To Toe set being all old school tunes.

Who is a band no one should miss?
I got heaps on my list basically every band I want to check out, I have heard all the sounds now want to see the show.

'Turn The Curse' is available on itunes, bandcamp or maybe even can be downloaded somewhere if you search for it.

Appearances at Hardcore:

We played Hardcore 2010 18+ at the Manning Bar off the back of our last full length Set In Stone. Three years on, we are beyond siked to take the stage again for one of the year's stand out HC festivals.

What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2013?

Seeing kids travel from all over Australia ever year to Sydney just to be a part of this amazing weekend. Love the scene unity and lengths people will go to support Australian hardcore music.

Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to watching?

Seen them before but really looking forward to seeing Outsiders Code, haven't seen them since they dropped their new LP, which is legit..

What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?

That's a hard one, Melbourne will be up this year in full force, they have some many goods bands going on South of the border these days. So will be good to catch up with all of them, last few tours we have crossed over and missed em when we were in their town they were in ours and vice versa.

Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?

Suck it up get your monies worth and take Monday off work complain about your sore legs and knees Monday while you spend the day in bed hahaha

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth Of Today song do you put your hand up for?

I'd ask the rest of the band what Taylor Swift covers they know..

Who is a band no one should miss?

Appearances at Hardcore:

This is our first and the first for me personally.

What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2013?

The exposure will be invaluable I think, plus playing with YOT will be unreal!!

Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to watching?

Well I've seen YOT before so I'm gonna say Higher Power.

What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?

Crisis Alert are ratbags up to no good. So not them. Outright are quality people and its always great to hang out with them, Shackles and Vigilante are legends too!

Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?

Drink a red bull and eat something light but filling.

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth Of Today song do you put your hand up for?

'Make a Change' because I love doing that intro bit hahahaha.

Who is a band no one should miss?

Us. Also SHACKLES.

Boneless1

BONELESS

Hometown: Sydney

Latest release and how can people hear some of your music online?

We’ve recently released our debut, 4 track 7” entitled ‘Unstoppable’ via Rest Assured Records. You can stream the 7” in full on our Bandcamp page http://bonelesshardcore.bandcamp.com/

Appearances at Hardcore:

We are extremely stoked that this will be Boneless’ first appearance at Hardcore.

What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2013?

I think it’s the fact that in a 2 day period you get to see the bands who are currently paving the way for the Australian HC scene, you get to check out the up and comers and new bands who you may not have seen/heard before, and then to top it off you get the international bands who rarely make the trek or never have before. You really can’t get a better scope of the entire Hardcore scene than the HC weekend!

Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to watching?

Apart from the obvious (YOT), I am really keen to check out The Weight and Higher Power.

What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?

Definitely our mates in Vigilante. Most of us have been friends and played in other bands with each other for years and it’s a real honour for us to share the stage with them at such an amazing show. It’s going to be a great weekend to make a bunch of new mates too, so we’re really looking forward to meeting all the bands we’ve never seen before.

Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?

In the immortal words of Scott Vogel “MAXIMUM OUTPUT!”

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth Of Today song do you put your hand up for?

Make a Change. I would more than likely lose my shit though and throw the mic out to give a bit of a head walk a nudge.

Who is a band no one should miss?

Shackles. Do. Not. Miss. Shackles.

SURVIVAL

Hometown: Gold Coast/Byron Bay

Latest release and how can people hear some of your music online?

Our self-titled 7” came out through Resist a few months ago, and we recently released a new track on the State Of Mind compilation by Telltale Records. You can check out that track and a bunch of other awesome new Australian hardcore at telltalerecords.bandcamp.com or head to our facebook page – facebook.com/survivalhc.

Appearances at Hardcore:

We’ve played once before, Hardcore 2012 was one of our first major interstate shows which was awesome for us and we are syked to be coming back!

What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2013?

Well it used to be seeing Dani get “business drunk” on the Saturday night, but she’s away now so I guess it’s friends and music or some shit like that.

Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to watching?

We’ve been lucky enough to catch most of the bands playing before, but it’ll definitely be cool to check out our mates’ new project Higher Power.

What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?

One great thing about this year’s line-up is that we’ve got friends in basically every band, so the whole weekend is gonna be a lot of fun hanging out with everyone from all over the place.

Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?

Make sure you get there early enough to see Rain Dogs, pace yourself and save some energy for our set, and try not to die during Outsiders Code.

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth Of Today song do you put your hand up for?

Here’s another hypothetical – What if Ray didn’t blow his voice out and he sang just fine and I didn’t have to answer this question?

Who is a band no one should miss?

Obviously Outsiders Code are going to smash it, but people should definitely also check out our friends Shackles from Byron Bay. They play super aggressive power-violencey hardcore and put on one of the best live sets around, and it’s going to be sick seeing them play a big show like Hardcore.

Survival, Warbrain, 50 Lions, Relentless and Rain Dogs

Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?

It’s only one day. You’ve paid your money. Bands don’t tour as much as they used to so just have fun and make the most of it.

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth Of Today song do you put your hand up for?

Probably Take A Stand or something. A song with a minimal chance of making me look like an absolute idiot.

Who is a band no one should miss?

Higher Power’s first ever show is on the Saturday.

Make sure you wear Nike AirMax 1's.

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth Of Today song do you put your hand up for?

No one should  be singing those songs except Ray Cappo. If he can’t do it bad luck.

Who is a band no one should miss?

Us and Vigilante

It’s always good to catch up with mates in Outsiders Code and Survival.

Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?

Limit your pit time to two songs per band unless there’s a Hatebreed cover.

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth Of Today song do you put your hand up for?

I’ll probably still be moshing to ‘Slave’ by Toe To Toe back stage but if I had to I think I’d go for ‘Talk Is Cheap‘.

OUTRIGHT

Hometown: Melbourne

Latest release and how can people hear some of your music online?

We released the Dedication 7" ourselves via Reason and Rage Records in September 2012. It sold out quickly but the 7" and our 2011 Demo are both available for streaming or download at http://outright-hc.bandcamp.com/

Appearances at Hardcore:

This is our first!

What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2013?

Being able to participate in an excellent tradition that celebrates all the amazing bands our local scenes have cultivated and awesome friends we're lucky to make, and enjoying another opportunity to play interstate. Sharing the stage with Youth of Today will also be an honour.

Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to watching?

We'll definitely be looking forward to seeing new bands Higher Power and Rain Dogs. The Boneless 7" is great too so we're keen to see how those songs transfer live. Otherwise, some of us have already caught every other band on the bill so we already know just how rad each set will be!

What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?

Our friends in Crisis Alert, Vigilante, Shackles and The Weight are going to be hugged and high-fived til there's nothing left of them. We never get to see them enough and their sets are going to totally explode.

Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?

I doubt you will have had a chance after the awesome night before but you'll be grateful if you get a few hours sleep first. Make the time and effort to start with a solid breakfast - it will keep you going longer than you expect. It's hard to do, and NO one wants to miss any of the bands on the bill, but it's good to arrange a time to stop for a dinner break too or make sure you're prepared in advance. Sit down whenever you get a chance (this is your best chance to get to know someone new, which is also kinda the point of great weekends like this) and hydrate. Make use of any available cloak room because you'll be ready to abandon your stuff once it's full of records and shirts. If you've travelled to be at the show, plan your return trip for the next morning, don't leave straight after if you can help it. Trust me, the relief and recovery time is worth any discomfort caused by asking your boss for the day off.
Argh that sounds so sensible and grown up. Whatever, dude! Just belt it out and smash through the whole thing - it only happens once a year!

Hypothetical question. Ray Cappo blows out his voice at the 18+ show the night before and the word goes out for guest vocals. What Youth Of Today song do you put your hand up for?

Stand Hard for the crew vocals and stage dives, We Just Might for a mean stage stomp, or Break Down the Walls for personal reasons because it is the namesake for my Bake Down The Walls initiative. Or I Have Faith purely for the PMA and to accentuate "the human riiiiice"!

Who is a band no one should miss?

THE WEIGHT. Ever ever ever.
