Long overdue full length from Canberra's 4 DEAD of 8 new songs. Hard to describe 4 DEAD to someone who has never heard them, as they seem to blend a bit of everything hardcore/metal/doom/sludge into their sound, kind of like Converge do maybe. Take for example the first three tracks, with the first "Departure 666" starting off with a slow and heavily distorted tempo that builds into the flat out second track "The Lost Fish Hook" and I have visions of frontman Jon running at the walls of the studio. The intensity and pace intensifies into the third track before letting up into a breakdown and then some groove for the fourth song. The songwriting has certainly evoloved from debut album "Blood And Piss", but then again that album was released almost 4 years ago now. This is brutal and has been well worth the wait.
