Debut full length from former Conation frontman, featuring 10 folkish songs, some are re-recorded versions of previously released classics like “Newcastle” and “One More Lament”, with the majority of it being new material. I’m usually pretty bored by acoustic albums, but the voice and songwriting of Jamie Hay definitely helps keep things really, really interesting. For instance opening track “Old Photograph” sounds like it could easily be an acoustic version of A Death In The Family song. Drawing on a cast of friends for additional backing vocals and instruments to his tracks, there are definitely a few masterpieces on show here. Great album overall from a very talented bloke.
