CULTURE are set to reunite for the documentary premiere of ORANGE COUNTY HARDCORE SCENSTER. This film covers the Orange County, CA hardcore scene from 1990 to 1997. Also reuniting will be Powerhouse, and the awesome Damnation AD will also be playing the show.
Orange County Hardcore Scenester, written produced, and directed by Evan Jacobs, will have an official screening in Miami on September 15, 2012 in conjunction with the release of the DVD! In order to capture the essence of Evan's film, which documents the California Hardcore scene from '90-'97 by way of his first-hand accounts and includes footage of such bands as Insted, Carry Nation, Mean Season, and Inside Out to name a few, there will also be an exhibition of many noteworthy flyers, fanzines, distro lists, and other memoribilia from this important period in the history of Hardcore.
Check out the trailers for the documentary. Below is what film maker Evan Jacobs from Anhedenia Films had to say about it all..
In the early part of the 2000's Dan O'Mahony and myself were driving to the movies to see a double feature of THE PERFECT STORM and ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE. Well, it may not have been that combo of films but we went to the movies a good amount during that time. On one of these trips I told him about how I wanted to make a documentary on the 1990's Orange County Hardcore scene but I was coming up with reasons not to do it. There was the time factor, the finding footage factor, the editing factor (at this point I don't even think I had an editing system in my home!), etc.
He told me regardless of all that I should still make the film.
Flash forward a decade and I have made a documentary on 1990's hardcore titled ORANGE COUNTY HARDCORE SCENESTER. Is it definitive? No. Was it ever intended to be? Never. This documentary is just that: a document.
