Adelaide band WEST THEBARTON have signed to brand new label DOMESTIC LA LA (helmed by Violent Soho's James Tidswell). The band has released a video for new single 'Bible Camp'.
'Bible Camp' was inspired by a story Ray's Mum told him about her uni days in Manila. He explains; "two of the blokes used the camp as a retreat to meet up, as their extremely Catholic families wouldn't ever accept them being with each other. Apparently one of their Dads wasn’t too happy when he was made aware and had come down there after finding out... My Mum, Dora saw the Dad kicking in the head of his son's lover" This tune imagines an alternative outcome; one where the lovers fall in love on camp, then spend the ensuing years dreaming of, and drawing enlightenment from their brief, sweet time together...
Domestic La La is a brand new label spearheaded by Violent Soho's James Tidswell, in partnership with Unified Music Group. Says Tidswell of the band, "West Thebarton are honest, real, and full of heart, the spirit and energy in their music literally jumps through the speakers and connects with me, giving me an emotion I didn't know I was feeling and that's about as good as it gets. I fucking LOVE them!"

Dear Seattle vocalist Brae Fisher explains..
"Domestic La La (DLL) is nothing like any other label I have heard of. The numerous and lengthy chats I've had with Tids have got me seriously convinced this is something special. To me it feels like the kind of label that will be remembered for decades because it went against the grain. James and DLL are so heavily invested in the idea of pure integrity in music and genuine unadulterated artistry, and because of that fact, I've never felt more liberated as a songwriter than I do now. The big picture vision that James and this label have is so critical to the current alternative scene and I can't express how happy I am to be with it from the get go.
I first met Tids at the Lord Gladstone for a few frothies a few months back. As soon as I walked in and saw him at the bar I just pat him on the back and gave him a hug as he turned around and we instantly just started chatting like old mates, despite having never met haha. The dude just has that essence about him. He was instantly family.
To put things into perspective, upon negotiating our record contract with DLL we added a clause that said Tids had to smash 750ml of VB through a beer bong, and he did it like a champion. If that's not family, I don't know what is.
The key thing I've taken from him about his experience in industry is that it doesn't have to be fast and it doesn't have to be now, it has to be right. The industry is so cluttered with people trying to 'cut through' these days that it is a true breath of fresh air to find someone who celebrates true realness and integrity."
