Following on from the departure of longtime bassplayer Andrew Seward, comes the news that Fat Mike of NOFX fame who released some of the band's back catalog on his Fat Wreck Chords label, will be joining the band for the next two weeks in recording sessions for the band’s forthcoming album Transgender Dysphoria Blues. Fromer Social Distortion / Offspring drummer Adam “Atom” Willard who toured Australia with the band recently this year, will also be heading into the studio.
Andrew Seward announced he was departing Against Me! last month, leaving the future of the band in doubt. The band also recently cancelled an American tour with Bad Religion due to the lack of a permanent drummer. Upon Andrew Seward's departure Laura Jane Grace had indicted that Transgender Dysphoria Blues could be the band’s last album. “It’s heartbreaking to know that Andrew won’t be standing next to me out on stage the next time I stand upon one,” she wrote at the time. “I realise that at this point there’s a possibility that it may look pretty ridiculous to carry on playing under the name Against Me! If I didn’t feel like I had something that I really needed to say with the album we’ve been working on for the past year then I’d humbly hang the hat and move on.”
