Against Me! have announced that former Social Distortion and the Offspring drummer Adam "Atom" Willard will drum for the band on their Australian Big Day Out tour dates.
A tweet made earlier today by frontwoman Laura Jane Grace confirmed the news.
Willard is best known for his work drumming in Rocket From the Crypt, Angels and Airwaves, The Offspring, Danko Jones and Social Distortion. He has also filled in on a tour with the Alkaline Trio and is also in a side project band called, "The Hell" with Matt Skiba.
Former drummer Jay Weinberg announced that he will be leaving Against Me! last week. He joined the group in November 2010 shortly after he was ousted from Madball, when the departure of Against Me!'s former drummer, George Rebelo left to rejoin Hot Water Music.
Against Me! will play the entire Australian Big Day Out tour this January, with two sidshows - one January 17th in Sydney at the Manning Bar, and the other January 22nd in Melbourne at the Hi-Fi.
It will be the first time Australian audiences will experience Against Me! live after singer /guitarist Laura Jane Grace (Tom Gabel) came out as transgender in May this year. Fittingly, the band will be showcasing thier most recent studio album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues a concept album about a transgender prostitue that will be released on their own label Total Treble Music after leaving Sire/Warner last year.
