MILES AWAY
Hometown: Perth
Appearances at Hardcore: 2004 (pictured), 2007, 2009
What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
Mainly just the chance to get interstate and see a whole bunch of friends we haven't seen in ages. Playing to a shitload of people is pretty good too.
Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to catching?
Survival - hopefully Elmzy is still rocking corn rows come July. Also Civil War, that's the only other band we haven't seen yet, but the good word has made it to the west.
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
Vigilante, because we can talk for hours about football over beers in a pub for middle aged people.
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
Culture. It's been too long since I've heard that song. Hopefully the Congress split songs still get a run too.
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
The remedy we use over here involves wedges with curry sauce, crisp refreshing beverages, watching any sport that is on TV and kicking any shaped ball…all this in-between bands.
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
I'm hoping Scott busts out some new material about Rick Ta Life on a horse or Raybeez or something. If not hopefully we reach maximum output level 9 pit status.
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
I'm confident that our tag team would consist of Dr Cam and Kim our Japanese fill-in. Maybe that combination could take a few bands out. But there would be some real Legion of Doom shit going down I feel.
Who is a band no one should miss?
Break Even RIP - shine bright boys.
BREAK EVEN
Hometown: Perth
Appearances at Hardcore: 2009
What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
The fact that people from all over Australia come to the festival and it’s a great weekend to meet new friends and see all your old ones, it’s really just like one big house party with all your mates for a weekend!
Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to catching?
I’m really looking forward to seeing survival play myself as I’ve seen Elmzy sing a few times with Parkway Drive and he kills it, so cannot wait to see him front a band of his own! Also really looking forward to see Ceremony play as they never got to Perth last time and their set with all the mix of songs they have is going to be great to see live!
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
I Exist for sure, we always have the best times with those dudes and the weekend is going to be a great one!
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
I would love to hear ‘Flood’ again! But, my first "mosh" experience was to more of the Hanged, Choked, Wrists Slit record, so I’m looking forward to songs off that one more!
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
I’m not to sure about that one as I know the night before its going to a BIG one! So maybe just drink a lot of water and have a pair of earplugs handy, you kids out there have to look out for your ears!!!!
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
I hope to hear a lot but I really just wanna hear/see Nick Miles Away singing ‘Push it Away’ with Terror!
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
I’m gonna say Miles Away, cause that shit is fake as fuck so it would be fun bashing each other up and not really hurting ourselves.
Who is a band no one should miss?
MILES AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WARBRAIN
Hometown: Melbourne
Appearances at Hardcore: 2012 will be our first year playing Hardcore.
What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
Having a good excuse to catch up with friends from all over the country and check out some great bands as well as the opportunity to play to an audience who may not have checked us out before.
Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to catching?
I think most of us have seen nearly all the bands on the bill this year at least once before.
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
Definitely our friends in Survival, from Queensland. They are one of the tightest bands in Australia at the moment and we have known all the guys for quite some time. Of course our brothers in Iron Mind from Melbourne are on tour with Terror at the moment so it will be good to kick it with them as well!
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
J.L.S.
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
Don't be a pussy.
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
No idea.
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
Ha-ha wrestling is whack, but I think we could take on just about anyone on the bill. If I had to choose though, I would pick Mindsnare cause at least those boys would put up a good fight and the fans would get their money's worth! Ha-ha.
Who is a band no one should miss?
Survival (... & Iron Mind)
CIVIL WAR
Hometown: Sydney/Newcastle
Appearances at Hardcore: As Civil War this will be our first but most of us have played once before in previous bands.
What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
To be a part of the biggest Hardcore Festival/Show in Australia, to be able to share the stage with some of the best bands that Australia has to offer and Terror, enough said.
Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to catching?
Survival, heard great things about them so keen to check them out.
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
All the bands really, a lot of friends have been made over the years.
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
Doesn’t really matter what Mindsnare play really, always good to watch and crowd always goes mental for them.
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
Go mental and take the next day off work or school to recover.
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
Hopefully the venue will cater for 'more stagedives'
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
This question just gave me a visual of our guitarist Lee and his party physique in a lycra wrestling outfit- that’s enough for me.
Who is a band no one should miss?
All the bands. But, everyone should see Break Even go out in style at their last show.
MINDSNARE
Hometown: Melbourne
Appearances at Hardcore: This will be our 5th, we played 2000, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2010 (pictured) …I think?
What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
This festival has happened over 10 times now and it hasn't got too weird…there hasn't been too much make up action or keyboards…it’s stayed pretty much on track which is an amazing result. Everyone is going to have an opinion and probably no two will be the same about the lineups but I think the attendances speak for themselves. It’s a bunch of bands that people want to see, it’s also a bunch of bands that like sharing a stage with each other…it’s always a good hang.
Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to catching?
I’ve never seen Civil War, Vigilante, Survival or Ceremony, will watch them all. I just heard some Civil War tracks for their 7”…good shit.
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
To be honest I pretty much like every band on the bill, that’s a big call but it’s a show that delivers for me. I want to see Iron Mind and Warbrain play in front of almost 1500 people…Melbourne HC!
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
None, it’s not Hardcore 1997 thank fuck.
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
Get there early and don't miss the first band, it’s all killer no filler.
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
Ripped from Vogelisms.com: Everyone shouts out the edge kids! Well this one is for the non-edge kids! I used to go see Judge with beer on my breath!
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
What is this, some attempt to start beef with bands and cause controversy? The grudge match will go down between Mindsnare and Restassuredzine.com…The Shire is going down!
Who is a band no one should miss?
I have it on good authority that whilst this is probably the 34th announcement of Break Even breaking up/final tour, this one is actually correct. This will be your last chance people if you are a fan.
I EXIST
Hometown: Canberra
Appearances at Hardcore: One, we played Hardcore 2010
What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
Aside from getting to play with an enormous amount of awesome bands? Getting to hang out with mates from all around the country that you don’t get to see every day or perhaps every time you tour. It’s a great time to catch up with people, drink tons of beers and watch bands. Im very excited.
Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to catching?
I think the only band I haven’t seen that’s playing is Survival and I’ve been keen to see them for a while, their demo is awesome and from what I’ve heard from mates they are killer live, so that would be it.
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
Extortion, Miles Away, Break Even and Mindsnare, don’t get to see a lot of those dudes very often so its good to catch up, especially the dudes from Perth, we don’t get to go over that side of the country as much as we’d like to so its always sick to see them over here, plus its gonna be a pretty big deal for Break Even doing some of their last shows over here so its good to catch em at a show we are playing too!
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
Culture or Are We Valid? Would be sick, but im sure they’ll play a ripper set regardless, they always do.
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
Drink heaps, its fun as hell and beer tastes awesome…but if you cant do that, don’t burn out on watching bands too early, you know there is an awesome amount of stuff on over the day, pace yourself, you don’t have to watch whole sets, bands understand that its long they wont mind people coming and going.
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
Well being that they are playing a show that is called ‘Hardcore’ they will no doubt be flying all over the place on both nights, but like most people im sure if I hear anything about stage dives and ‘maximum output’ I’ll be happy, im a sucker for the classics.
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
I’d say most of them, not saying that we are tough, which we most definitely are not, however there are 7 of us in the band and usually 2 or 3 lackeys along for the ride, so im pretty confident if it came down to it, our drunken/stoned staggering mass of idiots could just swarm people or something…or run away in a massive group, whichever was deemed a more viable option for survival.
Who is a band no one should miss?
US OFCOURSE! But really, Terror and Ceremony, they are coming a long way for these shows so show them the support they deserve, they’ve been playing together for ages and have both written a bunch of classic songs, so show em some love. And, Break Even, its their last Sydney shows! Don’t be a dickhead and miss out, they are an awesome band and it sucks that they are calling it a day, but they couldn’t have picked better shows to go out on.
EXTORTION
Hometown: Melbourne
Appearances at Hardcore: All ages.
What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
Networking, business meetings, profit analysis, downsizing, tax returns, doing lunch etc.
Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to catching?
I cannot answer this question legitimately, as I’m pretty sure I’ve already seen all the bands billed for HC2012 at previous events. My most sincere apologies.
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
I Exist. I support any band that that pukes on stage.
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
JLS. Truth be told I prefer hang choked to credulity.
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
It's probably not a wise move to be taking any sort of advice from me (which leaves you in a tricky spot whether to take this advice or not.).
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
“Activate the pit” and other robot related mosh calls.
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
Sounds like too much physical exertion to me. I don't know, any band where multiple members suffer from chronic fatigue?
Who is a band no one should miss?
Mindsnare.
VIGILANTE
Hometown: Sydney
Appearances at Hardcore: Individually many, as Vigilante 0
What's the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
Catching up with old friends and a lot of good bands in one place.
Any bands you’ve never seen before you’re looking forward to catching?
Survival. We've heard great reviews from everyone and their demo is intense so we're looking forward to seeing them live.
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
Miles Away. We haven't seen them for a long time but always have a great time!
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
Limiting it to one is tough. 'Power To The Lonely'.
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
Get there early and you'll enjoy it longer.
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
Maximum output.
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
All of them, but we'd probably just watch and laugh, it'd be an ugly sight.
Who is a band no one should miss?
Civil War. They're real good and you won't miss the others because they're first.
SURVIVAL
Hometown: Gold Coast, Queensland.
Appearances at Hardcore: Yet to appear, HC 2012
What’s the best thing about playing a show like HC2012?
Well this year's lineup is one of the wildest I've seen since HC started, so just to be on the bill is awesome. Not to mention Terror and Mindsnare playing together, holy shit!
Any bands you've never seen before you're looking forward to catching?
Civil War and Vigilante. I've heard good things about both bands, keen to see how they go in their home town.
What band/s are you looking forward to catching up with and hanging out?
Terror and Warbrain. Both great bands and just a good, honest bunch of ugly mug bastards like us.
What song off “Credulity” should Mindsnare play at HC 2012?
You'd have to say the first track ''Flood''. Otherwise just play hanged choked album start to finish.
Best advice you’d give to someone to make it through the full 10-band lineup on Sunday?
From watching Popeye as a kid, just get yourself a can of spinach and you'll be unstoppable.
What Vogelisms are you expecting to hear at either show?
Vogel knows how to work a crowd better than anyone, hands down. It wouldn't be a Terror show if he didn't say just a continuous concoction of the good old fashioned ''get up here'' and ''more stage dives!'' before every song.
If HC2012 somehow become a WWF Wrestling Grudge Match, what band would yours feel confident in taking on?
If it were based on band names alone, this match sounds like chaos! We like a challenge, so I suppose we'd have to take on I Exist and their 20 guitarists haha.
Who is a band no one should miss?
Mindsnare. Undisputedly the best Australian band of all time.
