From the promoters Southern Extremities....

The current economic and touring climate is a complex and challenging one, it seems famine or feast is the situation for most tours/events, and we've unfortunately been affected by the uncertainty.

We are sorry to say due to a variety of factors, most pertinently ticket sales in some locations, SEP and EET have made the incredibly tough decision to cancel the SHAI HULUD January tour.

In 20+ years of running shows and tours, SEP has only ever cancelled ONE (which was out of our hands), and we will usually push forward in just about any situation, win or lose.

The reality is, to keep doing what we are doing, we have to make hard choices at times, and here we are.

Apologies to anyone who was keen for these shows, apologies to the bands who were excited to support this killer act, we are just as disappointed, that's for sure.

All ticket holders will be refunded. Please keep supporting live music, it's a magical thing, and something we really need in the world atm.

ORIGINAL POST

Shai Hulud are coming to Australasia in Jan 2026, for the first time in well over a decade.

Following their triumphant reunion show with vocalist Geert van der Velde at Furnace Fest 2024, legendary American progressive metalcore band Shai Hulud are thrilled to announce their return to southern shores.

Not seen in Australia since 2013's Soundwave appearance, and with almost two decades since their last time in New Zealand, Shai Hulud will hit major population centres across both countries as they bring their genre defining sound back to the southern hemisphere in January of 2026.

With van der Velde back helming vocal duties, the band will be delivering performances from their storied catalog, as well as shining a spotlight on tracks from their landmark 2003 album That Within Blood Ill-Tempered where van der Velde's unmistakable and furious delivery defined an era of metallic hardcore.

Shai Hulud is back. Stronger. Louder. And more pissed off than ever before.
