LIFE IS NOISE is proud to announce the support acts for the upcoming Sunn O))) Australian tour.

The Manning Bar in Sydney on March 15 will be filled to the brim with the ringing ferocity of caustic noisemakers, Thorax. With guitars that switch from bordering on the dissonant to coalescing to provide the sonic bedrock for brutally howled vocals, Thorax are thunderingly intense, aggressive, and damned good.

On March 16 the stage at Max Watt’s Melbourne will be thoroughly warmed by the fast, savage, and remorseless outfit that is Extortion. Prepare your earholes for some brutal hardcore/powerviolence from these auditory madmen.

In almost two decades since their formation as a tribute to the music of Earth, Sunn O))) have become the standard-bearers of boundary-pushing, genre-defying, bone-rattling noise. Sunn O))) sit at the intersection of countless modes of creation – between metal and the avant-garde, drone and doom, music and performance art, meditation and punishment. These are the sounds of the big bang and the end of the universe all at once.

Sunn O)))’s music is ever-evolving, thanks in part to a lengthy list of venerable collaborators from the worlds of noise music, metal, pop and avant-garde. This December, they release Kannon – their first record under the Sunn O))) name since 2009’s Monoliths & Dimensions. But for their all their prodigious recorded output, Sunn O))) are above all a live band, with a show experience unlike any other.

It starts with the smoke. Layers upon layers of it, filling every corner of the space – be it a club, a theatre or a cathedral. Within minutes, the fog is so thick that it envelopes the stage, rising above the towering stacks of vintage amplifiers. Eventually, the cloaked individuals will emerge, dressed more like monks than rock musicians. And then you hear it – the penetrating dirge of that first note. Its pitch is low – lower than almost anything you’ve heard. Soon enough, you’re not just hearing those vibrations reverberating off the walls – you’re feeling them, in the pit of your stomach and every inch of your bones. This isn’t just music; it’s a ritual. It’s a sonic mass – a mesmerising spectacle of cultish theatrics and hellish, primeval sound immersing the audience.

Witness Sunn O))) on the following dates:

March 15 - Manning Bar, Sydney w/ THORAX
March 16 - Max Watt's, Melbourne w/ EXTORTION

Sunn O))) are also appearing as part of Adelaide Festival on March 12.
