Obscene Extreme Australia 2014 Running Order
Following the success of the festival debut in Australia in 2013, Obscene Extreme is back again, bigger, better and filthier than before.
Obscene Extreme launched in Czech Republic in 1999 and since then has played host to over 500 bands and thousands of die-hard grind and extreme metal maniacs. Leading up to the 15 year anniversary, founder Curby had a vision, and a rather long-sighted vision at that… Over 14,000km to be more precise. Obscene Extreme was going to celebrate in style and as part of a new venture, The Obscene Extreme World Tour, the festival was taken to Australia. The world tour also included a stop in Indonesia & Mexico.
Days after the final set was played at the final festival stop, the ‘motherfest’ at the Battlefield, Trutnov, Czech Republic, Curby had time to reflect. Before taking a few days to chill out and recover from the extreme aural assault numbers had to be crunched… and was it a success? Let’s just say there’s a reason why the festival didn’t make a return to Indonesia nor did it Mexico. 2014 ultimately saw a change in locations for America & Asia to USA & Japan. Australia on the other hand was a huge success and you know the saying… if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.
So with that, the wheels were in motion, the venues were booked, hundreds of applications screened and a final running order is now in stone.
This year Obscene Extreme takes place on 7th to 9th March in 3 separate locations. See below for more info.
Headlining will be the one and only Doom. A band with a history older than grind itself. Often cited as an early precursor to the genre and one, which are considered pivotal in the rise of crust punk. The new album ‘Corrupt The Fucking System’ is out now & you can bet on an airing of new material alongside old Doom classics.
Alongside Doom we have Italian grindcore quartet Cripple Bastards, we have The Kill, Captain Cleanoff, Ether Rag & many, many more.
