Gwar guitarist Cory Smoot (aka Flattus Maximus) is dead. His band members found him deceased this morning as they prepared to cross the Canadian border. The group was preparing to cross into Canada to play some shows on their current tour with Every Time I Die, Ghoul and Warbeast. Smoot had joined Gwar in 2002 and first appeared on their 2004 album, 'War Party.'

Brisbane's prolific Fires Of Waco have had a busy 2011 – releasing their debut full length Old Ghosts Never Sleep and touring with the likes of Miles Away, Defeater and Balance And Composure. Candlelight Records announced the signing of Corrosion of Conformity. Since early this year, the band – featuring the esteemed Animosity line-up of vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, guitarist Woody Weatherman, and drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin - has been working with long-time producer John Custer. Now nearly complete, their still untitled eighth studio album is planned for release early in the new year.

Recently we told you that Bridge 9 had signed EXPIRE to their growing roster of bands. Well Expire have just posted the first part of a tour documentary, shot this past summer that also incorporates their appearance at Sound and Fury. It's a pretty entertaining and hilarious watch as to what they get up to on tour.

The last time the DESCENDENTS released a new album was "Cool To Be You" back in 2004. Now some 7 years later, both singer Milo Aukerman and drummer Bill Stevenson have suggested they may hit the studio soon to record some new material. "We've always got new songs" answers Milo "the big question is when are we going to have the time to do it".
