Hollow Suns is a Tokyo based alternative rock band formed in 2014. Drawing influence from alternative rock bands such as Jimmy Eat World, Foo Fighters, and Smashing Pumpkins, their sound blends elements of grunge, punk, and shoegaze, incorporating the hardcore grooves at their core with melodic, punk rooted hooks to create an aggressive, powerful, and solid sound.
After sharing the stage with numerous international artists, the band released their complete discography album "Process Of Losing" via Ice Grill$ in June 2021, compiling their first four releases. On June 8, 2022, they released their debut full length album "Otherside", produced by Grammy award winning producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight), at the legendary Studio 4 in Philadelphia. The album received widespread acclaim both in Japan and abroad. Hollow Suns has supported visiting artists such as No Pressure, Anxious, Fiddlehead, and Drug Church, and released the EP "Free Fall" on February 9, 2024. Later that year, the band embarked on their first U.S. East Coast tour, playing 16 shows. The strong response to the tour led to their selection as the opening act f or Rival Schools’ East Coast tour. Their second U.S. tour followed with 12 dates, including festival appearances, and saw them share the stage with acts such as Touché Amoré, Hot Water Music, and Fleshwater.
In 2025, Hollow Suns supported The Story So Far on their Japan tour. The band also hosted their first invitation based headlining tour, welcoming longtime friends Leaving Time from the U.S. for a two week run across Japan, and performed a co-headlining show with Japan’s renowned rock band The Bonez.
Their first new EP in two years, "Back To Dust", builds on the direction of their previous work while pushing into darker and heavier territory. Featuring walls of sound rooted in grunge and shoegaze, groovy riffs, and a weight that edges toward modern heaviness, the record combines these elements with catchy melodies to clearly define the band’s continued evolution and expanded sense of scale. The EP was mixed and mastered once again by Will Yip, with artwork created by Brianna Collins of Tigers Jaw.
