Following 2022’s well regarded Autumn In The Water EP, Philadelphia band ASkySoBlack return with new single “Boy Like A Bruise.” Out through New Morality Zine, the song is an emotive swirl of heavy shoegaze with grunge and post-hardcore elements. Expansive guitars meet yearning vocals that convey lyrics about self-hurt and realization. The song was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Adam Cichoki at Timber Studios.
On the track, vocalist and guitarist Jordan Shteif shares:
“I wrote Boy Like A Bruise about being one. I can be horribly sore to people when I’m hurting and it has led to the loss of a lot of friendship and a lot of love. The chorus references these losses followed by me asking myself how I learned to hurt myself in such a way. I think the song sounds cold and indifferent which ends up matching the lyrics.”
ASkySoBlack will hit the road supporting Soul Blind in June with Stand Still, Trauma Ray, and Dime on select dates.
ASkySoBlack is Jordan Shteif (Guitar/Vocals), Vaugh Cummings (Guitar), Alec Martin (Drums), and Norman Staley (Bass).
