On November 12th, 2013, Long Island hardcore band King Nine released their debut album Scared To Death, which would prove to be pivotal for the band and hardcore fans across the world. An album of perseverance, it was recorded on weekends over a nine month span, from Fall 2012 to Summer 2013 with Joe Mitra at Developing Nations in Baltimore MD. Today, DAZE announces a reissue of the record to celebrate the 10th anniversary, making the album available on vinyl and CD for the first time since 2014. Pressed on four limited colorways, the gatefold LP receives an updated layout including debossed, silver stamped text on the front cover.
Reflecting on the album vocalist Dan S. states:
“When you write a record you never think about what people are going to think about it 10 years later. We just wrote it trying to play music we wanted to hear. For me the thing that I will always remember about that record is how much all of our friends helped promote it and came out for those first shows and went off. It was a special time on Long Island and it all felt like the perfect storm.”
Originally formed in 2011, King Nine released their demo that same year, followed by 2013’s Scared To Death and 2018’s Death Rattle. Having played shows and festivals across the US and Europe, the admittedly part-time band has been more active over the past two years performing at FYA, Tied Down, Flatspot World and opening for Biohazard this past June in NYC. The band will join up with Pain of Truth for two Texas shows this week before hitting Flyover Fest in Tulsa, OK. Info below.
