BLOODCLOT, the band fronted by Cro-Mags vocalist John Joseph, has released the title track to upcoming LP "Souls" out December 16 through Upstate Records.
Bloodclot aka Bloodclot! is an American Hardcore/Punk/Crossover Thrash band from New York City, lead by iconic vocalist, author, & triathlete, John “Bloodclot” Joseph McGowan, formally of NY’s legendary Cro-Mags. Bloodclot’s origins dates back to the early 80’s when it doubled as roadies/opening act for the legendary Bad Brains. In its current refined lineup, McGowan recruited guitarist, Tom Capone formally of the influential post-hardcore band Quicksand, bassist Craig Setari of Sick Of It All, and Darren Morganthaler formally of Madball on Drums.
Produced by Laz Pina of Latin Metal band Ill Niño & mixed by Chris Collier (Korn, Prong, Whitesnake), Bloodclot’s current incarnation is arguably the band’s best musical work to date. The first single “Souls” is aggressive and rhythmically styled, socially conscious message to the “manipulated” masses. Bloodclot are currently finishing their third LP, set for release late 2022.
Vocalist John Joseph revealed the following:
"The events of the last few years really took a toll on a lot of people. I had friends relapse into addiction and sadly some who lost their fight. Thus the chorus, 'Break away, the cosmos calling, your star's been falling/Break away, cut the ropes that bind you, free your mind and find you.
The track also calls out corrupt government shills who twist the truth for their own financial gain and control, creating situations which left people feeling there's no hope. After what we witnessed go on with war after war, perpetrated behind blatant lies, it should always raise red flags when it comes to trusting them on any matter of importance."
John Joseph shares his thoughts on the second single "War Castles":
The song is a metaphor. There have been countless wars for profit over the decades – all carefully orchestrated and planned by the 'so-called' elite. The men with crooked minds who hide behind the curtain. The media are their knights in shining armor doing their dirty work. And we are treated as serfs. It's also about the other war going on. Their war for the minds of the masses, for total control, in particular, of the youth. Poisoning them with so much garbage – and the indoctrination begins early on. As the lyrics state, 'Mainstream manipulation slaughters the youth, twisting reality away from the truth. Rolling over souls just for their goals, maniacs man the technology controls.' They control the machines. They control the narratives. They do not care who is affected, injured or killed, because they don't value human life. Now we see global tensions rising. There is even talk of nuclear weapons being used. NYC is running tv spots on how to survive a nuclear event. You don't survive; you fucking die.
