UKHC band Vision Quest are streaming their new EP "Bear Witness" in full. The 7" will be released by Crew Cut Records (UK) also released by Blind Rage Records (USA) and Angry & Hungry (Spain).
Plymouth is not the first place you think of when you think of UKHC, but it is one of a handful of cities not to have banned the Sex Pistols Anarchy in the UK tour in the 80s, in fact they let them play twice.
The picturesque county of Devon, where Plymouth is set, is also known for peace, love, and hippies. Therefore it comes as no surprise that in 2018 a band called Vision Quest burst onto the UKHC scene from this place and brought with it a bright and positive hardcore we can all get behind.
'Bear Witness' is the band's second 7" and is a step up in confidence and catchy song writing, reminiscent of Righteous Jams and early Revelation Records bands such as Gorilla Biscuits.
However 'Bear Witness' also reveals a heavier influence, for example during the chuggy end on Hot Drop or in Step Up when vocalist Saskia makes the call for the pit to enter final boss levels of hard. This type of hardcore will always bring a smile to your face as anger melts away to bring joy, and we can all do with a bit more of that these days.
