After the absolute musical abortion that was the Metallica / Lou Reed collaboration "Lulu", Metallica have decided that drastic action is needed to try and reinstate some credibility to their once revered name. Enter no doubt Lars Ulrich's latest brainwave, a musical festival called "Orion Music", whereby they gather some of the biggest names, already doing very well in a number of different musical genres and add themselves as headliners on two nights, with the promise of punters not being forced to endure any Lulu songs, instead playing the albums "Ride The Lightning" and the disappointing "Black Album" in full.
Strangely enough the band decided not to touch their two greatest masterpieces, "Master Of Puppets" from which the festival title 'Orion" features or other classic "And Justice For All". Perhaps the band is no longer capable of playing these albums live, or perhaps they are holding on to the promise of playing these in full once their next great musical endeavor flops and backfires on them.
Metallica also recently reunited with Megadeth's Dave Mustaine in December of last year, playing 5 tracks from "Kill Em All" live together in San Francisco for their 30th Anniversary, shortly after the backlash from Lulu began. Will their latest effort restore some faith in their name from the metal community? Probably not, the damge has already been done.
