Sad news to hear that Mick Burke, guitarist with Sydney thrash bands MORTAL SIN and SLAUGHTER LORD has passed away.
Mick's former bandmates and friends have been paying tribute to his legacy of shredding.
From Mortal Sin...
"Just had a phone call from Wayne that Mick Burke has passed away. Mick was our guitarist in the late 80s who was responsible for nearly all of the songs of Face of Despair and was an awesome songwriter and guitarist. He had many health issues over the last decade or so and he will be sorely missed but NEVER forgotten. Rest in peace Mick, when we find out when the funeral is we'll post up here for anyone who wishes to pay their respects."
From Slaughter Lord...
"It is with deep regret and sorrow that I share the news that one of the founding members of this page has left us and gone to Valhalla. Leif Gregory (Snake Sixx) left us on the 21st of December. He will be missed by many. His energy, enthusiasm, love of metal, and lust for life and adventure inspired many people. He has left us a great memory with "Its all about the Riff"
Rest well Brother."
From Utopia....
"LEGEND DOWN ALERT
This one ain't gonna be easy...
It is with the heaviest of hearts indeed we say
MICK BURKE R.I.P.
A LEGENDARY Australian musician who played in the two most LEGENDARY Sydney Thrash Metal bands of the 1980's, Slaughter Lord (official) and Mortal Sin.
Nobody rocked the black skinny jeans, leather jacket and white high tops combo like Burke. NOBODY!!!
Whether he was acting as guitar roadie at 16 for Terry Tsolakis at Mount Riverview Scout Hall, playing in front of 5,500 people supporting Metallica in 1989 or down the front at a local show in later years taking photos of up and coming young bands, Mick poured his heart and soul into everything he ever did. He was an all or nothing sort of bloke.
THIS BLOKE HAD A TICKER THE SIZE OF THE OPERA HOUSE!!!
We will post funeral details as soon as we have them for all who may wish to join us and farewell our dear friend...
You did great brother, you did great."
