Details on Record Store Day plans...

"Well, it's that time again ... already. SATURDAY APRIL 16 2016.

Every year we put on an event to celebrate what Record Store Day is for us. I've written blogs about what it means to me but it's basically a day to celebrate music. Real music, with people who care.

This year is no different. We're going to have live bands play all day, exclusive vinyl only available at Tym guitars on RSD, a DJ spinning vinyl all day, giveaways, ginger beer and nerds, lots of nerds, and, it's FREE and ALL AGES.

This year it's April 16th and is going to be a heavy day for live music punters with six bands from around Australia, and around the world with doors at 10am and bands kicking off at around midday.

DEAD : Last year DEAD toured nationally with Jucifer and Black Cobra, headlined their 3rd US tour and made 4 new records; scheduled for a staggered release starting in May. They consistently achieve a power to weight ratio previously thought unobtainable in the world of heavy music.

MoE : And yes that is THE MoE from Norway - Legendary noise rock/avant garde DIY stalwarts, fronted by the omnipotent Guro Moe; wielder of sub sonics like no other. MoE are on tour across the globe almost constantly and It is no secret they are one of the best live acts in the noise rock world right now.

BUDD : Those who know Tym guitars know all about BUDD after I re-issued their seminal EP Yakfat on my label last year. Those drop tuned sludge lords from Brisbane will be ripping through a set of fat anthems just to show the kids how it's really done. If you missed the instore to accompany the release, or the couple of shows they've done since, this is your opportunity to see why they still rule all these years later.

No Anchor : Another favourite of Tym guitars and just as heavy to keep the mood ... weighty. No Anchor are in the process of recording and mastering their new album after a small hiatus and will be playing a rare show on RSD to announce this new long player. You don't get to see these guys much as members live in different cities and while there will be a tour to support the new album, this may be your only opportunity to see them in the near future. Be there.

Barge with an Antennae on it : Another sludgy, mathematical two piece with the sonic goods to fit in with the day. These guys have also been favourites of Tym guitars and were unveiled to many in our 12 in a Dozen project a few years ago. Since then they have played, recorded, and played again and will be showing you, just like DEAD, just what a 2 piece is capable of.

Sydney 2000 are a new local band that clang and rattle with the best of them. These guys will make a noise so crazy and catchy you'll wonder what you did before you heard them. While not as sonically heavy as the other bands on the day, the racket these guys make is something to behold. I strongly suggest you're there when they start to decimate your hearing.

As always, we will have exclusive vinyl releases ONLY available at Tym guitars ON THE DAY. They will be announced soon but I can say with certainty, if you love music like we do, you're gonna want to be there and grab one, or .... four."
