HOODLUM SHOUTS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM
'HEAT ISLAND' VIA POISON CITY
Finally returning to the studio to record the follow up to 2012's epic 'Young Man Old Man' album, a reinvigorated HOODLUM SHOUTS have announced their new long-player 'Heat Island' is set for release this May via Poison City Records.
Four years in the making, Hoodlum Shouts return with Heat Island, a snapshot of modern Australia as seen through a world-weary view, but still with hope and a glint in their eyes. From the rollicking but subtle The Way That You Are onward, each of these vignettes peek inside the political debates, misled bravado and flaws of humanity as well as a recognition that not all of society is coming undone at the seams.
Recorded with Melbourne based engineer Mike Deslandes (Cosmic Psychos, The Nation Blue) and their first with ex-4Dead bassist Morgan McDonnell, the group shake out trademark Midnight Oil-meets-Hot Snakes jams on the title track but shadows of new influence shine bright in Split The Bone's motorik rhythm and menacing pop of Two Headed Dog while vocalist Sam Leyshon recalls underrated Pacific Northwest heroes Juno on the cinematic torch song Good Night And Good Luck and slow motion Love Long At The Downer Club.
Heat Island is bold enough to take a look at our country and people with a critical and hopeful view - you should be too.
