Space Bong release the longest music video in Australian metal history
Adelaide’s doom metal behemoths SPACE BONG and Adelaide film-maker CAPITAL WASTE PICTURES have just released what is undoubtedly the most ambitious, blood-soaked, hallucinatory audio-visual collaboration in Australian metal history.
Clocking in at over fourteen minutes this short film follows a crust punk squad of earth warriors who abduct three powerful businessmen responsible for rapid environmental decay. The prisoners are taken to the South Australian bush and brutally sacrificed in a ritualistic, drug-fuelled offering to mother nature, to right the wrongs caused by the 1%.
With the Do-It-Yourself, gonzo ethos of Space Bong and film-maker, Liam Somerville, the video was filmed in a series of unauthorized, unconventional scenarios that bring a new zenith of authenticity to film clip production. The filming included an ‘alleyway’, ‘secret show’ attended by around 200 people under a major overpass in Adelaide’s inner city, infiltrating the offices of multinational corporations, and a weekend trip to the southern Flinders Ranges under a full moon to conduct a shamanic ritual sacrifice.
Upping the ultra-violence and intoxication stakes from the standards set recently by Australian bands King Parrot and High Tension, the film raises the bar for film clip production in Australia and globally.
The single, Slow Spring, features on Space Bong’s long-awaited second full length album, ‘Deadwood To Worms, due for release on FALSExIDOL Records and Art As Catharsis on Tuesday October 13th, 2015.
