Iconic Santa Cruz, California act BL'AST! has signed with Rise Records and has just released a two-song EP entitled For Those Who've Graced The Fire!, the band's first new music in over 20 years.
Featuring core members Clifford Dinsmore, Mike Neider, Joey Castillo (Queens Of The Stone Age, Danzig, Eagles Of Death Metal, Wasted Youth) and Nick Oliveri (Queens Of The Stone Age, Kyuss), the band is joined on this new EP by their longtime friends Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) on drums and Chuck Dukowski (Black Flag) on bass (who filled in for Joey and Nick due to touring obligations). The songs were recorded and mixed at Dave's Studio 606.
BL'AST! has constructed a heavy, timeless musical onslaught that has stood on its own and has been proven with time, as evidenced by the number of modern bands that cite them as an influence.
In the late 80's after releasing a trio of LP's on SST Records, the band went dormant for much of the 90's and early 2000's. In 2013, BL'AST! returned, teaming up with Dave Grohl for mixing duties and Southern Lord Records to release, 'Blood', a re-mixed and re-mastered version of the band's classic 1987 album, It's In My Blood. A few tours later and with an itch to write new music, the band is officially back with their new EP, which is out now digitally and will be released as a 7" later this year.
BL'AST! members Joey Castillo, Nick Oliveri, Mike Neider and Clifford Dinsmore are currently working on a long awaited LP that will be released by Rise Records, with a release date TBA.
