The long shelved final LP from Boston punks, The Explosion will finally see release on February 14, 2012 via Chunksaah Records. Bury Me Standing was initially supposed to be released in the Spring of 2007 as their second album on Virgin Records, then after they were dropped was planned to be the initial release for Paper + Plastick Records, which obviously never happened. The band only released on erecord on Virgin with 2004's "Black Tape", which coincided with an Australian tour by Resist Records.

For those curious about Bury Me Standing, the tracks "NYCD" and "Image Of A Son" are still streaming on the band's Myspace page.

The band will celebrate the momentous occasion of the five year old record finally being released, by reuniting for one show as part of the annual Bouncing Souls "Home For The Holidays" celebration on December 28 at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ.

Below is the initial statement from the band about their split with Virgin back in 2007 and their video for the song "No Revolution".

We are writing you from the dead of winter here in Park Slope Brooklyn, with a long over due update about the Explosion and our record, Bury Me Standing. As some of you may know, the record label that we have been working with for the past 3 years, Virgin Records, has decided not to release our new album, and release us from our contract. To some that may be bad news, but to others (who know about the perils of major labels) know that it is not such a bad thing. The good news, is that we have gotten the record back from Virgin, and are in the process of finding a label that may put it out.

We will keep you updated. Thanks to all of you who have been writing (over and over again) to find out what is up with the record. We hope to have it out ASAP.
