BODYJAR RE-TOUCHED LIVE

The beast !! It wakes !!
Melodic punk pioneers BODYJAR are putting aside retirement, re-stringing their axes and getting ready to deliver one of Aussie punk's great albums live on stage from start to finish at the CORNER HOTEL Saturday 31 March 2012. This is an EXCLUSIVE ONCE ONLY event to celebrate the release of their landmark album "NO TOUCH RED" on limited edition coloured vinyl.

"NO TOUCH RED", originally released on Shagpile/Shock in March 1998, was recorded at the end of a long tour at 'Le Studio' outside Montreal in Canada. ('Le Studio' usually recorded the likes of The Police, David Bowie, The Tea Party and Corey Hart!) Utilising the talents of Jim Munroe as producer (The Jar loved his work with Farside on the Munroe Doctrine) and mixed at the Blasting Room in Colorado by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton (both of The Descendents & All fame), 'No Touch Red' was the first time Bodyjar were let off the leash and given a budget to work with crew they really admired.

Front man Cam remembers " It was awesome to work in this studio with these punk rock legends. Hell you could row a boat across the lake to the place every morning!" Despite being recorded somewhere so chillaxed, 'No Touch Red' captures the frenzied, but focussed energy of a young punk band at the top of their game live. This album truly consolidated Bodyjar's sonic identity, spawning signature tracks like 'Sequel', 'Remote Controller', 'You've Taken Everything' and 'You Say'. The album importantly also brought break-through airplay and allowed the band to bring long-time personal favourites 'Down By Law' to Australia for what Bodyjar claim as "The best Jar tour ever!"

The origin of the LP title however lies lost deep in the fog of time. Its root may lie in a game played on the Bodyjar tour bus to wile away the hours, in which case it ultimately meant 'Shut the F#&% Up!'. Others take the term to mean 'Don't stop' or conversely 'Don't over do it'. Whatever the case, it was a blitzing soundtrack for tens of thousands of lovers of hard music.

And now this milestone Aussie punk album will be re-issued on coloured vinyl by the fledgling label PILE OF SAND RECORDS. Bassist for the band Granto reckons " When a good friend of Bodyjar's says they want to start a label and release one of your old albums on coloured vinyl, you don't have to think too long or too hard about the response. 'No Touch Red' kicked some arse back in the day and still holds it's head up high all these years later, so I say let there be vinyl and a show to boot ! "

And to top it all off, BODYJAR, renowned world-wide for their generosity, are pleased to share this special night with an incredible array of pedigree Aussie punk bands bands of 'No Touch Red' vintage, making it the first show back for a re-formed ONE DOLLAR SHORT, ANTISKEPTIC's first Melbourne show in years & GAME OVER's first performance in over a decade!
