Sydney 5 piece Sumeru will play their first headline Melbourne show at the Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood on Friday March 13. Their previous visits have been as supports, firstly for Perth hardcore outfit Blkout in 2013 and more recently the huge Doomsday Sunday show at the Tote opening for Windhand & Beastwars. This might give you some kind of hint as to what Sumeru sound like as the band combine elements of hardcore and metal with with big smoked out riffs. Recognition for Sumeru has grown since the release of the 'Holy Lands' LP in late 2014 receiving 4/5 stars in the December issue of Blunt Magazine. For the show Sumeru will be performing the Holy Lands record in full from beginning to end, which means playing some songs for the first time. Joining them on the night are Melbourne sludge / doom / metal lords Watchtower who themselves are putting the finishing touches to a brand new release. Caged Grave, Grim Rhythm and Cement Pig completing the unholy line up. Doors are at 8pm, entry is $10 and it's 18+. The Holy Lands LP is available in 12' inch vinyl through Arrest Records & Whitewinter Records as well as digitally
