After a very long stint of 11 years, Triple J's punk/hardcore radio program is bidding farewell to it's founding host and all round legend, STU HARVEY.  Originally gracing Melbourne's airwaves with his Mondo Bizarro radio show back in 1992, Stu was instrumental in the establishment of Short Fast Loud, the only punk and hardcore radio show that receives a national broadcast around Australia.

Personally we'd like to say a very big thank you to Stu who has been supporting our efforts and initiatives for the past 15 years. From my first band's demo, way back in 1999, to Miles Away taking out the listener's poll in 2004, to current rotation of new tracks from Boneless, Stu has been amazing for Australian music and an absolute champion in the way he handles himself.

Stu would like you to listen to Danzig today, all day, in his honour...

From Stu...

"Hey all, I have some news.

I have decided that 2014 will be my final year hosting Short.Fast.Loud.

I’ve been hosting Short.Fast.Loud. since it debuted on triple j back in 2004, thats 11 years and well over 1500 hours of radio. Sharing the music I love with people has always been my passion, it’s the reason I first got into radio and why I've done it so long. I still get stoked when I get a message from a listener that they have discovered a new band through the show, it is the best feeling and will be what I will miss the most.

Before you ask, this decision was 100% my own. In fact the triple j management have been unwavering in their support of me and the show since it started. They have repeatedly asked if I was sure I wanted to leave. They’re great people who I love and respect dearly. I have always said that I wanted to leave when the show was in good shape and I think it’s better than ever.

I am extremely proud that we have played hundreds and hundreds of new bands on SFL over the years, giving many bands their first airplay and often their first interview.

My replacement has already hosted SFL once before, back in August when I was off sick. We had no idea back then, that it would be his debut! I am proud to hand the SFL baton over to Josh Merriel who will take over Short.Fast.Loud. in 2015. Josh knows his shit and I have every confidence he’ll do a great job.

I’ll be hosting this week’s listener poll and then the week after, Dec 10 will be my final night hosting Short Fast Loud. it should be a good time.

Thanks for listening.

Stu"
