EYEHATEGOD AUSTRALIAN TOUR JANUARY 2015
Joining southern sludge metal legends, EYEHATEGOD across three shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, are Canberra natives, I EXIST.
Wearing their Sabbath and Eyehategod influences proudly on their sleaves, this sludge/hardcore six-piece has all the subtlety of a kick in pants. Latest album ‘From Darkness’ (Resist Records/Prosthetic Records) quoting Heavy Mag is, “classic sludge… coupled with violently primal vocals… ferocious groove and ridiculous levels of brutality that never fail to get the blood pumping.”
Also on the billing for the Melbourne show on January 29 at The Hi-Fi, is Victorian kings of riffage, THE RUINER. Formed from members of Christbait, Legends of Motorsport, Blood Duster and DernRutlidge, it’s a given it’ll be blisteringly heavy.
In Sydney on January 31 at Manning Bar you get to feast your ears on the controlled frenzy of LO!, who are fast becoming Australia’s answer to Converge and one of the most intense bands in the country.
Joining Eyehategod and I Exist in Brisbane at Crowbar on February 1, is eclectic metal five-piece THE MATADOR. It’s no secret their live show is killer – self-proclaimed “sludgy post-metal that aims to challenge the listener, not just brutalise them.”
And to kick off the tour in Perth on Thursday, January 29 at the Rosemount Hotel, thrash rock trio, LEECHES will keep things chaotic and punk. Currently in the process of writing album number two, expect maximum rock’n’roll in short fast blasts. Joining them are lads and lass, CURSED EARTH, who know a thing or two about delivering intensely heavy, percussive hardcore.
For over a quarter of a century, Eyehategod have carried the torch for the metal culture of New Orleans, sharing stages with the likes of Pantera, Goatwhore and Crowbar. And in two and a half decades, they’ve helped define the NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana) sound: downtuned, blues-inflected guitars awash in furious distortion, underpinning the demonic screams of Mike Williams over a thundering rhythm section.
