Chaingun are a relatively new band from Melbourne – featuring Matt Maunder from renowned, long running hardcore punk outfit Mindsnare on vocals and Bomber (Within Blood, Depression) on drums – who are set to play Sydney for the first time on Friday May 9.

Their approach has its roots in the bands that they grew up listening to in the ‘80s, such as Black Sabbath, Venom, Celtic Frost and Black Flag. The end result is a loud, heavy, no-bullshit four piece, driven by monster riffs and Maunder’s gravelly vocals, as showcased on the four song 12” EP that they released last year through Midnight Funeral records.

Joining them will be local sludge metallers, Summonus, making one of their infrequent live appearances; one of Australia’s finest stoner rock outfits, Arrowhead, who recently supported Monster Magnet; the tripped out, intense and crushing Chroma (boasting current members of Fattura Della Morte and Hostile Objects along with former Twin City Faction and Subversion vocalist Chris Britton); plus the return of Lomera with a batch of new songs and a revamped line up, including three parts of Sumeru.
