Adolescents will finally be hitting Australian shores for the very first time in their 30 year history.
Spawning from members of bands such as Social Distortion and Agent Orange, Adolescents have seen an impressive swag of musicians move in and out of the super group from Tony Cadena who often provides guest vocals for Fu Manchu, Pat Smear of Nirvana fame, Steve Soto of Agent Orange, Frank Agnew of Social Distortion and T.S.O.L, Casey Royer who went on to form influential Orange County band D.I. and Rikk Agnew who also played in D.I and Social Distortion before joining successful death rock band Christian Death.
Their 1981 self titled release is often considered one of the most influential punk records of the past 40 years and an omnipresent feature in any serious collectors record crate and it was after this release that members of the super group went back to playing in their respective bands such as Social Distortion and Agent Orange before getting back together in 1986 and releasing two subsequent albums in '87 and '88 (Brats in Battalions in 1987 and Balboa Fun*Zone in 1988). The band went back to their own bands once again in 1989 and then reunited in 1994 and for a third time in 2001 for a 20th Anniversary Tour which has seen them together since playing the international circuit appearing a festivals in Europe and North America such as . They released Oc Confidential in 2007 and then Fastest Kid Alive in 2011 and now for the first time in their history the punk rock supergroup finally hit Australian shores with original members Tony Cadena and Steve Soto for what is a once in a lifetime opportunity to bear witness to one of the punk hardcore scenes pillars of influence.
Notably influencing acts such Bad Religion, NOFX, Fu Manchu, The Offspring, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pennywise, Mudhoney and The Vandals to name but a few, the Adolescents play 4 highly anticipated shows up the east coast of Australia this July for the first and let's face it, probably the last time ever.
