Young new bands regularly crop up in the ocean of unsigned talent attempting to be noticed, trying to do something different, wanting to grab the attention of anyone who cares to give it. Many shoot and fail to score, giving up before even coming close to the mark. Enter FREE WORLD. Hailing from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, with a string of self-released demos behind them, the band stubbornly continued into another year insisting that they be given a chance. Working hard, Free World have achieved lots, playing along side some of hardcores most well known names including Comeback Kid, Expire, Terror and Defeater as well as completing a tour of New Zealand and a string of Australian interstate shows. Persistence then payed off when they were invited to play Australia’s premier hardcore music festival, Break The Ice, alongside US heavyweights Bane, Cold World and a plethora of Australia’s best acts, confirming their name as an emerging new talent.
Having dropped a brand new record titled ‘REALITY’ via Life. Lair. Regret. Records at the tail end of last year; 2014 will see the young 5-piece set out to cement their status as one of Australia’s best up and coming hardcore acts. To start things off right and to celebrate their recent release with friends all over the country, Free World will be hitting the road for a string of dates Australia-wide.
Joining Free World for the majority of dates will be boyfriend band PROCLAIM. Having released a demo and most recently a split tape with central coast big wigs ‘The Takehold’, Proclaim are ready to try and prove they are more than just four guys playing punky crossover thrash, when really they actually are just four guys playing punky crossover thrash.
