Australian underground rock legends feedtime are to play their first Melbourne shows in 17 years with the lineup that recorded the revered collection of LPs recently re-issued by Sub Pop.

Formed in 1979, the Sydney three piece - rick (guitar, vocals), allen (bass, vocals) and tom (drums) – earned a reputation as a rough, powerful band that twisted thumping bass and heavy guitar riffs beyond Rose Tattoo and X into their own uniquely brutish sound.

Although largely unheralded in their home country at the time, the band released four albums and three singles between 1985 and 1989 that went on to win and influence countless fans in Australia and overseas including a young Kurt Cobain, Sonic Youth and Mudhoney (who subsequently requested feedtime be special guest support on their upcoming Australian tour).

Neither a noise band nor a punk band, the sheer physicality of feedtime’s bass, distorted slide-guitar and driving, relentless drum beat underlining snarled vocals make a music that is both ominous and intense.

In early 2011, the band was invited by esteemed U.S. label SS to perform a one-off show in San Francisco.  The subsequent year they played 11 dates in the U.S. in support of iconic Seattle label Sub Pop’s remastering and reissue of the band’s first four albums as CD and vinyl boxed-sets, as a new generation continued to pick up on the band’s avant-garde pub-rock.  In Australia, they have played just twice in that time (both in Sydney).  This is no nostalgia trip, however; the band will have a new 7” out on Sub Pop in 2014, and live, feedtime remain a ferocious and formidable unit.

Expect new and old material as well as some feedtime reinterpretations of old favourites.
