HARMONY ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF NEW ALBUM
‘CARPETBOMBING’ IS SET FOR RELEASE ON FEBRUARY 7 VIA POISON CITY RECORDS

Having released an AIR nominated debut album, three 7" singles, and played countless live shows across the country, Melbourne’s Harmony will release their long-awaited 2nd album, Carpetbombing through Poison City Records on February 7, 2014.

Coasting through verse, chorus and coda like the tempestuous anticipation of a tropical cyclone, Harmony's sound is a mongrel concoction of lost-in-the-wilderness blues and heartbroken balladry. This melodic darkness is offset by glorious three-part gospel vocals that lift each song from the mud and up into thrilling territory, without compromising the music’s haunting omnipotence.

Featuring Tom Lyngcoln (The Nation Blue), Jon Chapple (McLusky) and Alex Lyngcoln, Harmony focus the intensity of their previous projects into brooding, swamp-born creations, while Amanda Roff (Ukeladies), Quinn Veldhuis and Erica Dunn usurp the arrangements with sweet reprise.

Carpetbombing was recorded and mixed by Lyngcoln, who has since racked up a number of credits recording the likes of Spinning Rooms, Batpiss, Hoss, Spite House, The Nation Blue and The Ocean Party, as well as the first Harmony album.

This release diverges from the band’s much-loved debut, in that the power of the harmonies is fully realised and not as much of an afterthought. With the band now a cohesive unit, Lyngcoln was able to write using the full power of Harmony’s line-up, allowing for more ambitious song writing and arrangement.

In order to match the calibre of Harmony's previous collaboration with Tom Waits' legendary guitarist Marc Ribot, Harmony introduce Carpetbombing with spoken word performed by national treasure Don Walker (Cold Chisel, Tex, Don & Charlie). In addition to this critical collaboration, Carpetbombing features a wealth of bonus material, with all 15 songs being reinterpreted by a wide range of artists including Adalita, Qua, Heinz Riegler, Mick Turner, Max Crumbs, Spinning Rooms, Summer Flake and more.
