Metropolis Touring has announced the cancellation of the upcoming maiden tour of Australia from New York's MURPHY'S LAW. The tour was set to kick off next week but has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
Below is the word from Metropolis...
"The Murphy's Law Tour is unfortunately cancelled. The pre-sale ticket numbers were such that with the tour due to start next week we didn’t feel confident proceeding.
Anyone who bought tickets online will have the money automatically refunded to their credit card by the ticketing company in the next few days."
Now before everyone jumps in with "Wtf! I was so going to go see Murphy's Law", keep in mind that presales are the only indication a tour promoter has to whether or not a tour will flop and cost them a lot of money or on the flip side perhaps be a success. When you factor in the costs of airfares, van rental, accomodation and maybe even backline the average tour is faced with the daunting prospect of trying to recoup. In an era where we are spoilt for choice of tours to attend, taking the punt on a tour of an untested band in Australia is really a big gamble.
I guess the lesson here is that next time around a tour you want to attend is announced, show some support and buy a ticket early to avoid any cancellation dissappointment.
