Hailing for the last decade from Osaka, Japan, PALM’s return to Australia is marked by an extensive tour that will take them across every state and territory this nation has to offer. The band’s incredibly focused sound draws vast influence from many styles of heavy music, culminating in 2012’s second album ‘My Darkest Friends’ - eleven tracks of fury that brings to mind Kyuss and Pantera as much as it does Converge and Mastodon. Having recently returned to the live arena, the now Melbourne/Gold Coast based A SECRET DEATH is revitalised and ready to take their atmospheric metallic hardcore to a whole new level, joining Palm across the majority of their Australian dates.
BLACK HOLE will be bringing a handful of interstate acts up to make sure this night won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Melbourne’s ENCIRCLING SEA have been relatively quiet this year, having only released their incredible second album ‘A Forgotten Land’ late 2012. Their uplifting post-black metal sounds will be juxtaposed by the crushing sludge of Sydney’s LO!, hardened by steady touring of Europe earlier this year alongside Cult of Luna and The Ocean, armed not only with this year’s ‘Monstrorum Historia’ album, but a new vocalist to boot. Honorary Brisbanites SHACKLES tow the line between relentless hardcore and furious grindcore, having already released multiple records and toured aplenty this year. Newcomers to their band but not their surroundings, fellow Sydney band ACHE will also be bringing their early metalcore/screamo crossover style Brisbane for the first time.
On the local end of the spectrum there’s the old school blackened death of DEFAMER, the futuristic and stupidly technical wonder that is THE SCHOENBERG AUTOMATON, Gothenberg/HM-2 lords THE FEVERED, post-black metal four-piece HOPE DRONE, the savage blackened hardcore of RITUAL HARM, and the debut live appearance from THE RIVER.
Upstairs in the Black Hole live room will also feature solo sets from OF HEARTH AND HOME (Encircling Sea) and KARL HARTWIG (Hope Drone).
