Maggot Fest is back! Now into it's third year of rowdy, loudy and crowdy punk rock the party is going into overdrive in 2012 with 30 of Australia's finest garage, punk and noise bands performing in Melbourne at three venues over three days Fri Nov 2, Sat Nov 3 and Sun Nov 4.

Maggot Fest III will include special guests Useless Eaters (USA) and the Raw Nerves (NZ) and an amazeballs local contingent including heavy hitters Deaf Wish, Kitchen's Floor, Whores, Straightjacket Nation, Nun, White Walls and heaps more!

Maggot Fest III takes over the Gasometer (upstairs and downstairs) Friday Nov 2 and Saturday Nov 3 while on Sunday Nov 4 North Melbourne's best record store/cafe Woolly Bully hosts bands in the afternoon. The party continues later that night down the street with more acts playing the Town Hall hotel.

Led by the charismatic Seth Sutton, Useless Eaters are American punks. A teenage Sutton started the band in Nashville in 2007 and they have since released three albums and more than a dozen 7's and EPs on almost as many labels. Raw Nerves are four dudes from Auckland that channel the Ramones, Shangri-Las, Billy Childish, the Oblivians and Bo Diddley.

Brisbane's Kitchen's Floor will be launching their achingly beautiful new 7” on Negative Guest List records. Deaf Wish are rock and roll bruisers plain and simple. Chaos, tension and melody. One of the best live bands this country has produced in a long time. Straightjacket Nation are a hardcore punk band. They don't have a Wikipedia page but wiki 'post concussion syndrome' for an idea of their blistering live show.

Whores from Sydney are going to wipe smiles off faces with dire, downer and nihilistic punk rock. Perth's Helta Skelta are making it over for their first east coast foray. If you like your hardcore on rockier side than you will probably already be familiar with them. Ratsak and Raw Prawn are two of the stand out bands of 2012. One from Melbourne the other Sydney. Both kick the arses.

Nun are about to launch a brilliant 7” and their just as brilliant (and punishing) synth driven live show is a must see.
Things have been quiet on the Chook Race front of late with various members traipsing the globe but they are back poppier/punchier than ever.

Brisbanites STAG and Psy Ants will be there. The former smash a post punk funk the later just smash.
Tyrannamen are a party band of the highest order. The in-house band on a Somali pirate ship. Gentlemen are anything but. Think more obnoxious punks with some serious Pissed Jeans worship.

White Walls are dropping their debut album later this year but in the meantime get down to see their guitar tonal onslaught and Leather Towel (whoah Nelly) words don't do them justice. You need to witness them for yourself!
Old Mate are chillers. Super talented chillers.

We are psyched that Sydney bands Ghastly Spats, Family are making it down– they make you wish you lived in Sydney.

Soma Coma are one of the best hardcore acts in Australia at the moment. Likewise Austmutants, albeit in a more spazz, keyboard, garage fashion. Both Constant Mongrel and Taco Leg share members (well member). Lucky for both said member is a legend. One of the poppier acts on the lineup, The Stevens have fast become a Melbourne fave and we are stoked to have them as part of Maggot Fest III.

Canberra's kings of the capital the Fighting League are returning to Melbourne to incite the latte loving public and spread the rugby league gospel. Tough work but they are a tough band. Have you heard East Link's Wild Dog'? No? Make it happen!

Ex Con are newish to the block. Get out of their way.

Who else? How about Exhaustion? Three dudes with strong musical pedigrees and even stronger songs.

Speaking of exhaustion, that's enough I think.
